On November 7, Samara Secter joined counsel from Crown Law Office – Criminal in a panel discussion at the Ontario Court of Justice West Regional Seminar. The seminar, presented by the Association of Ontario Judges, was an opportunity for presiding judges to hear from Crown and defence counsel on recent developments in the law. The panel was moderated by the Honourable Justice Craig Parry and addressed topics related to section 9 of the Charter and remedies for arbitrary detention. The discussion focused on case law since Omar and Le.
In 2018, Samara Secter and Emily Lam represented the appellant in his successful appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada in R. v. Le.
