ALG's Samara Secter and Frank Addario provided a publicly-available legal opinion for the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding the proposed Bill C-11, the Digital Charter Implementation Act. If passed, the Bill would create two separate Acts: the Consumer Privacy Protection Act and the Personal Information and Data Protection Tribunal Act. Frank and Samara concluded that the legislation would be a valid exercise of the Federal Trade and Commerce Power because of the importance of the digital economy across the country.
