MEGAN SAVARD TO PRESENT AT BENCH AND BAR LECTURE SERIES ON S. 276

On September 18 and October 23, Megan Savard will join counsel from Crown Law Office – Criminal in presenting at a “bench and bar” lecture series. The sessions will focus on recent statutory amendments and Supreme Court of Canada decisions relating to section 276 of the Criminal Code, which governs the admissibility of evidence about a complainant’s prior sexual history in sexual offence cases.

Megan Savard has appeared as counsel in a number of recent Supreme Court of Canada cases on section 276. She represented the Criminal Lawyers’ Association as intervener in R. v. Barton, 2019 SCC 33 and R. v. Goldfinch, 2019 SCC 38 and was counsel to the respondent in R. v. R.V., 2019 SCC 41.
