Laura Metcalfe is an associate at ALG. She maintains a criminal and regulatory law practice. She has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia and has represented police officers in Police Service Act hearings. Prior to joining ALG, Laura spent 5 years working with a top criminal lawyer in Toronto.

Laura earned her law degree from the University of Ottawa, where she earned awards including the Regional Senior Justice Prize for highest standing in Appellate Advocacy and the Eric Bergsten Award for Winner of the Moot at the international round in Vienna at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. She also gained experience as a student intern for the judges at the Ottawa Ontario Court of Justice. She has a B.A.H. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Carleton University.

Laura co-authors “A practical guide to the Charter: Section 10(b)” and “A practical guide to the Charter: Section 11(b)” together with Alan D. Gold and Michael Lacy. She is a member of the second chair litigation roster of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.
