The New York Times reported on September 24, 2021 that Canada dropped its extradition case against Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou, allowing her to leave Canada after almost 3 years. Ms. Meng entered into a deferred prosecution agreement with the United States on Friday. The agreement resolved the fraud charges that she was facing in New York federal court.
ALG’s Frank Addario was part of Ms. Meng’s legal team during the extradition proceedings in the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver.
More information about the resolution is available through reporting by the BBC, the Washington Post, the Globe & Mail, and other international media.
