MEGAN SAVARD TO PRESENT ON SEARCH & SEIZURE JURISPRUDENCE AT “CROWN SUMMER SCHOOL”

On August 20, Megan Savard and counsel from the Ministry of the Attorney General Crown Law Office (Criminal) will present on recent case law regarding the reasonable expectation of privacy in section 8 Charter cases. The presentation is part of the Search & Seizure course at the annual Ontario Crown Attorneys’ Association “Crown Summer School” taking place this year in London, Ontario. Megan will address key topics including standing, abandonment, informational privacy, and third-party privacy – all in the context of new digital realities that have changed drastically since the drafting of the Charter.

In 2018, Addario Law Group intervened on behalf of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association in R. v. Mills, a recent decision of the Supreme Court of Canada on the reasonable expectation of privacy.
