CONDO COMMON AREAS OFF LIMITS TO POLICE SNOOPING, TOP COURT RULES
This week the Ontario Court of Appeal held that condo residents have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the “common areas” of their buildings, such as stairways, hallways and storage locker rooms. Police do not have carte blanche to sneak into and roam around these areas without a warrant to search for evidence. Andrew Burgess of Addario Law Group argued the case in the Court of Appeal.
